History

The biodiesel fuel manufacturer SIA Bio-Venta was founded on 5 October 2004, when the sector’s professionals AS Siltumelektroprojekts started to develop the design of the biodiesel plant. Designing works were completed in 2006 and construction was launched the same year.

The biggest equipment and machinery suppliers who are the developers of the biodiesel production and oil pressing lines are the Austrian company BDI International AG and the German company Cimbria Sket.

After the construction was completed in the middle of 2008 the production of biodiesel was launched:

- 15 436 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2008;

- 32 437 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2009;

- 29 323 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2010;

- 51 423 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2011;

- 80 854 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2012;

- 59 501 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2013;

- 68 646 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2014;

- 61 880 tons of biodiesel were manufactured in 2015.

Presently SIA Bio-Venta is the biggest biodiesel manufacturer in the Baltic countries, with total investments of EUR 77.72 million.

The plant consists of rapeseed and rapeseed cake storage and handling facilities, a rapeseed oil press workshop, biodiesel production workshop and biodiesel handling facilities. The biodiesel manufacturing capacity is 100 000 t/per annum, while the rapeseed oil manufacturing capacity is 35 000 t/per annum.

SIA Bio-Venta was founded to “live green” – to generate biodiesel from a source provided by nature – rapeseed, which can be used instead of fossil diesel fuel, thus ensuring that there is 63-99% less carbon monoxide, 73-99% less hydrocarbons HC, 22% less nitric oxide NOx and 42-66% less dust PM emissions in the environment in comparison with those from fossil diesel fuel.
