Ltd. "Bio-Venta" plans to double the processing capacity of rapeseed

Ltd. "Bio-Venta", thanks to the funding of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), has started an important development project. The project is implemented in accordance with the Latvian Rural Development Program 2014-2020. within the framework of the "Investments in tangible assets" event. The project "Rapseseed processing in the production cycle with high added value" (No. 22-00-A00402-000034) has received the support of the Rural Support Service (RAS) and foresees a significant increase in production capacity.

The planned project envisages the installation of the second rapeseed oil pressing line in the existing oil workshop building. The new equipment will be analogous to the existing ones, allowing for easy integration into existing production and control systems. Thanks to this project, the rape seed processing capacity of Ltd. "Bio-Venta" will increase from 100,000 tons per year to 200,000 tons per year, while the production of rape seeds will increase from 56,500 tons per year to 113,000 tons.

The total cost of the project is 7.2 million EUR, of which the public funding is 672788.74 EUR. It is planned that the project will be commissioned in November 2025.

The project will be important not only for the growth of the company, but also for the national economy of Latvia. This will create 15 new jobs and significantly increase the amount of rapeseed purchased in Latvia from local growers. Along with the increase in production capacity, there will be opportunities to process a larger amount of rapeseed grown in Latvia, creating added value for the local economy, and not just exporting rapeseed as raw material to foreign countries.
